Schneider’s Kaitui served at State’s Banquet for Obama & Merkel in Berlin

Markus Schneider a.k.a. “The Genius Giant” might as well be the most famous young vintner from Germany these days. Not only does he cater his wines to one of Germany’s finest restaurant, Sansibar (Elected to be Germany’s best Hot-Spot-Restaurant 2012/2013), his Kaitui Sauvignon Blanc was also served at the official State’s Banquet between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. president Barack Obama in 2013 during his visit to Berlin. The dinner was held at the Charlottenburg Palace, hosting 250 guests in total. Guests also included Michelle Obama, many high ranked German politicians and basketball star Dirk Nowitzki.

Tim Raue, 2-Star Michelin chef was responsible for the wine selection stating that wines by Markus Schneider have accompanied his dishes for many years. “The modern German style shows up in aromatic, juicy, yet elegant wines that just fit perfectly with the cuisine, on this occasion…” says Tim Raue.

The high quality of the Kaitui Sauvignon Blanc is underpinned by being awarded the regional champion and receiving the gold medal at 2013’s Prague Wine Trophy. As if this wasn’t enough the vineyard Markus Schneider was also chosen to be the Winery of the Year 2013.

Chilled Wine is very proud to be able to offer the Kaitui as well as other wines like the Black Print, Saigner Rosé, the Schneider Chardonnay and the Tohuwabohu from this highly renowned vineyard.
