Wine of the Week – Markus Schneider’s Black Print 2012

The word ‘heavy’ is mostly associated with negative thoughts, exhausting work or simply with overweight people. But when it comes to Markus Schneider’s Black Print Cuvée, a substantial full-bodied, dry and yet smooth red wine, the word ‘heavy’ will doubtlessly change its meaning to great, awesome and tasty. The name was quite the obvious choice for Markus, as it is very dark in colour, a great thing, as we all know the darkest nights make the brightest stars.

The Black Print, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and St. Laurent is probably Germany’s most famous red wine Cuvée that matches perfectly with red meat and veal dishes due to its Blackberry, Tobacco and Oakwood flavours. Recently it was served to the Swedish King, Karl Gustav and his Queen Silvia at their recent visit to Lubeck in northern Germany. We have been told by reliable sources that they did drink more than one bottle of this dark delight and even took some home for the rest of the Royal Family…
